Gary Rodgers to begin new position Feb. 15

Father Kris Stubna, diocesan secretary for Catholic education, has announced the appointment of Gary Rodgers as president of Seton-LaSalle High School, effective Monday, Feb. 15.

Working in close collaboration with Sister Patricia Laffey, principal of Seton-LaSalle, and the board of directors, the primary responsibilities of the position of president are to focus on the areas of fund-raising, development, institutional advancement, enrollment building, community relations, alumni support, and strengthening the Catholic mission and academic excellence of the high school.

Rodgers is an alumnus of Baldwin High School and Edinboro University with a degree in sociology. He has had a career in sales/management since 1979, and most recently was a higher education sales consultant for Pearson Education. He was a longtime member of their elite Presidential Leadership Council.

He is a member of St. Bernard Parish in Mount Lebanon and has served as a coach, former president of the athletic association, and has held various volunteer positions in the school and parish community.

The Seton-LaSalle board of directors recommended Rodgers for the position after an extensive six-month process. The board’s goal is for Rodgers to lead the school in providing the best possible Catholic high school education in the South Hills.

In making the appointment on behalf of the board of members for Seton-LaSalle, Father Stubna said, “given the complexities involved in operating our secondary schools today, we are delighted that Mr. Rodgers brings to these responsibilities a passion for Catholic education and a wealth of skills and gifts. This is a wonderful opportunity to further expand and grow the program of Catholic educational excellence that has been a hallmark of Seton-LaSalle High School for many decades.”
